Bangor Electric Flying Club was formed in 2010 by a small group of aeromodellers from the North Down area of Northern Ireland.
Initially flying from the sports pitches at the Valentines, moving to the former Bangor Grammar School playing fields on Ballymacormick Road, and now flying from Newtownards Airport, the Club has grown steadily in numbers over the last few years and is fully affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) which allows us to benefit from the professional guidance and necessary insurance cover provided by the UK governing body for the sport.
The club has a current membership of around 18.
Our members come from all walks of life and all ages, young and young-at-heart. Junior members (U18) are welcomed and encouraged but they MUST be fully supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
As the Club name suggests, BEFC are an ELECTRIC ONLY flying club. No combustion engine powered aircraft are permitted to be operated and all aircraft MUST use 2.4GHz radio equipment.
